A link download fails

Why a video link cannot be downloaded, and what to check.

Check these points, in order:

  1. The video is public. “This video is private or requires login. Make sure it's public and try again.” A private video, or one that needs signing in, cannot be downloaded. Open the link in a private browser window to check.
  2. The video still exists and is available in your country.
  3. The post really contains a video, not only photos or text.
  4. The link is the full address. This is a Reddit share link. Open it in your browser, then copy the full address (it contains "/comments/") and paste that here.
  5. The platform is compatible: TikTok, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, Twitch, Streamable, Reddit, Pinterest, Snapchat, Kick, Bluesky, 9GAG, Odysee, Coub, Tumblr, Rumble.
  6. Your download allowance is not used up: see Download a video by link.

Videos protected against copying (DRM) can never be downloaded. If everything above is right, try again a little later.
